San Francisco, March 10, 2007 -- Interstellar Data
Aram Danesh and The Super Human Crew hires Interstellar Data to design a music web site for the hip-hop / jazz band based in the San Francisco Bay area. The design team uses original photography and graphics to invoke a street-wise yet sophisticated atmosphere. Designed in Flash and hand-coded html, the site provides band member biographies, upcoming show dates and sample mp3 tracks.
The site metaphor is built around the striking image of a corrugated concrete warehouse building. The core image conveys a clean and modern sensibility while staying grounded to the grittiness and edgy reality of urban streets.
The warehouse door rolls up to reveal information about the band while posters on the walls advertise tour dates and provide buttons for the site's user interface. Speakers mounted above the door play on demand mp3 singles from the band's latest album.
Since musician's web sites change frequently due to time-sensitive notices regarding tour dates and album releases, the site graphics also are modified with the passage of time. Repeat visitors to the site will be rewarded with new tour posters on the building facade while the advertisements for past dates will slowly fade away.
As part of the marketing strategy, the designers hand-code information pages in plain html to allow search engines to easily navigate and index the data presented on the site. This strategy provides gateways to the site from search engines effectively negating the main liability of multimedia web sites. As an example, information in the site about each band member can be easily found using a Google search of the member's name.
Previous incarnations of the site are available to fans through links from the presenr site. Older content is utilized and remains valuable.
